How to layer light in a bedroom
Start with overhead. A Nordic Disc LED or semi-flush mount centred above the bed gives baseline brightness when you walk in. Skip directional spotlights — they cast hard shadows that aren't relaxing.
Then bedside. Hanging pendants or 330° rotatable wall sconces free up nightstand surface. Mushroom or cordless table lamps work where you want a soft glow rather than reading light. Pair lights one each side for couples — different bulb brightness on each is fine and often preferred.
Best in: bedrooms of any size (semi-flush mount overhead), couples' bedrooms (paired bedside wall sconces or table lamps), guest rooms (rotatable readers for flexibility), studio bedrooms with low ceilings (Nordic disc + bedside hanging pendant combo), and bedrooms used as evening retreats (cordless table lamps for wind-down lighting).
