Flush vs semi-flush: which works for your ceiling height
Flush mounts sit directly against the ceiling — 5-15cm drop maximum. They're the right choice for ceilings under 2.4m, corridors, walk-in wardrobes, and bathrooms where steam can foul a pendant. Our Modern Round Flush is 12cm deep — clears the doorway in any UK home.
Semi-flush mounts add 20-30cm of drop. They give a bit of architectural detail without dropping into chandelier territory. The Nordic Style Disc and the Japanese Cream Ceiling are designed to sit just below the plaster, casting a soft shadow gap that breaks up flat ceilings without dominating.
Best in: low-ceiling rooms (under 2.4m), corridors and stairwell landings, bathrooms (IP44+ rated), walk-in wardrobes, small bedrooms, kitchens with reduced clearance, and minimalist interiors where a hanging fixture would feel out of place.
