How to choose a pendant light for a kitchen island, dining table, or hallway
Start with position and drop. Over a kitchen island, hang the pendant 75-90cm above the worktop. Over a dining table, 80-90cm above the surface for a 6-seater. For hallways, leave 2.1m clearance below the lowest point. Our Otto LED Linear (75cm bar) covers a 1.2-1.6m island; the Pebbles cluster suits a round dining table 100-140cm wide.
Then the shape. Linear bars give uniform task light — best for cooking surfaces and breakfast bars. Cluster pendants like Pebbles or the Multi-Head Glass Island throw multiple soft pools — better for round tables and visual rhythm. Single glass shades like the Modern Dome are simpler, work in narrow spaces, and sit well over a single sink or reading chair.
Best in: kitchen islands and breakfast bars (linear LED or bar), dining tables (cluster or single statement), hallways (single elegant pendant), bedrooms (soft fabric or paper drop), and reading corners (single E27 dimmable). Most are hardwired with adjustable cord length and accept dimmable E27 or LED-integrated bulbs.
